Trees and bushes are like anything else in that they require a little regular maintenance to keep them looking their best. Gardens are places to be enjoyed and ensuring your greenery is healthy and attractive goes a long way to achieving this. PRUNING

By trimming a tree, shrub, or bush of any overgrown or dead branches and stems we are able to stimulate growth, encouraging the tree to grow larger, faster, and stronger. However, it requires significant expertise, as care has to be taken throughout the process as removing too much, or the wrong branches, can cause considerable stress and harm to the tree.

CROWN THINNING

When trees become too dense, they can significantly limit the amount of light that gets through while making them more susceptible to wind damage. By selectively removing branches we can reduce these effects. This has to be done very carefully, and no more than 30% of the crown foliage should be removed in a year. Otherwise, there may be lasting health implications for the tree.

CROWN REDUCTION / RE-SHAPING

Trees often grow to be too large or grow unevenly, making them an odd or uneven shape. We can easily make the crown smaller in general or target specific regions in order to address the imbalance in form. Skill is required to carry out this service as a secure network of large, strong branches must remain in support of enough smaller branches and twigs. This means the tree will remain sturdy will producing dense foliage.

CROWN RAISING

Crown raising involves removing the lower branches of a tree until they are at a specific height. Doing so allows for more space underneath which can improve the look of the tree or provide more space underneath for sitting or mowing the lawn. However, removing too much can cause the tree significant stress and may even kill it. Our surgeons will work with you to determine a height which works for you while persevering the health and integrity of the tree.

CROWN CLEANING

Like any other area of the garden, tree crowns need to be tidied every now and again. Climbing plants, parasitic plants, and foreign objects will often make their home in a tree. We will tidy up the tree and improve the look of the tree and, in turn, your garden.

ROOT PRUNING

Root pruning involves cutting back longer roots in order to encourage the tree to grow shorter roots much closer to the trunk. This process is typically used prior to moving the tree to a new location as it is significantly more beneficial to move the tree with as many roots as possible.
